Awards and Sensory Garden Opening

27th September 2019

What an amazing day! Today we were lucky enough to have the whole school community come out to help us celebrate all of our achievements from the last year and to open our new sensory garden.

Over the last 2 years pupils and staff have been working towards the ArtsMark Silver award, UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Gold Award and the Nurturing Schools Award. Today we were able to celebrate all of the amazing work that has been put in. Mayor of Halton Margaret Horabin opened the morning to congratulate the school for all of their work. Mrs Austin and pupils from Secondary 3 told everyone about our ArtsMark Journey and shared photos of the displays and exhibitions we had taken part in. Sue and some of our RRSA ambassadors explained about the work they had done to help our pupils understand their rights. We had a fabulous video from pupils in some of our nurture groups and Yvonne Monaghan from Nurture Network UK and MP Derek Twigg presented staff and pupils with our Nurturing School Award. Last up was Mrs Jones who told us all about the journey to our fabulous new sensory garden and welcomed Jane from Steve Morgan Foundation who presented the school with a cheque for £20,000! After a huge drum roll the new garden was unveiled and everyone got to know each other over tea and biscuits.
