Marvellous Micro:bits

6th January 2017
Happy New Year to all of the Chesnut Lodge Community!

Everyone has had a busy few days back at school and pupils were keen to get started on their new topics and themes. As part of their new 'Inventions' topic pupils in Secondary 2 have been coding with BBC Micro:bits.

Micr:bits are really cool codable pocket-size computers that have motion detection, a built-in compass and Bluetooth technology, given free to every child in year 7 or equivalent across the UK in 2016.

Secondary 2 pupils had their first lesson with the micro:bits today and can already make them flash, make the LEDs turn on and off, make shape patterns and some of us even tried to write our names! We can't wait to see what they can do by the end of the term!
